Becoming a member.
Thanks for your inquiry concerning membership and the possibility of joining the Alliston and District Sportsmen Club. A formal request of intent to become a member must be provided, this will be viewed by the committee and if considered you will be furnished an ADSC questionnaire, satisfactorily responding to this you will be asked to attend an interview obtaining a majority vote of acceptance then an application will be forwarded for completion by you.
In addition you will be required to attend an in house safety course and supervised shoot sessions successfully completing this program we hope you will enjoy your membership privileges and the fun of shooting with other club members. There are certain rules to be learned about firearms use and the use of the club/range facilities.We have developed this information package to help you learn what is required as a new member of our organization. Depending on your previous experience, you will be required to complete a period of training. During this time you will be expected to attend the club/range and successfully complete any and all of the required firearms and range safety training as dictated by the CFO. The club executive as well as the club instructors will assist you in learning what is required to complete this initial session. You must successfully complete a written and practical test based on the contents of this package as well as firearms and range safety training which you will be provided.
When your training has been completed, you will be required to demonstrate the safe use and handling of firearms, knowledge of range safety and knowledge of the laws relating to firearms use and ownership. At the completion of your training period, the club executive will decide on your acceptability to become a regular member in good standing with this club.
You will receive the following.
- Club constitution and bylaws.
- Range safety rules and commands.
- Firearms training information for probationary members.
At the conclusion of your training period you will be required to sign documentation which you have been provided, with the above noted information. Your signature will also serve as verification that you are aware of all range safety rules with this club and that you will follow these rules whenever you are on club property. New members must complete a probationary period.
